Hiking is slowly becoming one of my favorite pastimes, over the past few months I have gone on a few hikes around Johannesburg twice to Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens. This last Sunday I joined a hike organised by my sister Dumbbells and Delights at Kloofendal Nature Reserve in Roodeport.
Kloofendal nature reserve is one of many Hiking Trails in Gauteng and just about 25km from Johannesburg City Centre.
There are Four Walking trails in the Reserve, namely Dasie with Red markers and it is 1.8km long. The Rocky Ridge which is marked in Yellow is 3.5km long it is (probably the most challenging of the four). Struben marked in green is 790m and Wetland marked in Blue. Our plan was to go on the Rocky Ridge trail, but somehow we ended up doing the Dasie Trail, as at some point we lost track of yellow markers on the Rocky Ridge.

Entrance to the Nature Reserve

There are a few steep climbs on the Trails

Small Dam within the Reserve.
Overall this was an easy hike, the trail was easy to follow, apart from the wrong turn we took. It worked out well for our group as we all had different fitness levels and perhaps the other trails would have taken us longer.
Kloofendal Nature Reserve is open daily and entrance is free. It is completely fenced and there is a guard at the entrance.
