Hiking in Kloofendal

Hiking is slowly becoming one of my favorite pastimes, over the past few months I have gone on a few hikes around Johannesburg twice to Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens.  This last Sunday I joined a hike organised by my sister Dumbbells and Delights at Kloofendal Nature Reserve in Roodeport.

There are Four Walking trails in the Reserve, namely Dasie with Red markers and is 1.8km long, the Rocky Ridge which is marked in Yellow 3.5km long, (probably the most challenging of the four),  Struben marked in green and 790m and Wetland marked in Blue.    Our plan was to go on the Rocky Ridge trail, but somehow we ended up doing the Dasie Trail,  as at some point we lost track of yellow markers on the Rocky Ridge.

Overall this was an easy hike, the trail was easy to follow, apart from the wrong turn we took.  It worked out well for our group as we all had different fitness levels and perhaps the other trails would have taken us longer.

Kloofendal Nature Reserve is open daily and entrance is free.  It is completely fenced and there is a guard at the entrance.
